Domaine Eyguestre: a passion for 4 generations

Domaine Eyguestre is a long family history. Indeed, the farm was created by Louis Bellion, my great-grandfather in 1919. He practiced polyculture there (cereals, pasture, olives, fruit trees, vines).

Quite naturally, my grandfather Ismaël succeeded him. He acquired several plots still intended for mixed farming. He mechanized operations with the first tractors.

My father Lucien, at the beginning of the 1980s mainly lead the exploitation towards viticulture. At the end of my studies, I seconded him for 3 years before taking on the vineyard in 2000. At that time, I made the choice to specialize only in viticulture. I still kept the olive orchard to market my olive oil for direct sale.

I am therefore the representative of the fourth generation and responsible for vines for 20 years. Having a passion for my profession, my terroir and wine, I wanted to enhance my work and obtain a product that resembles me.

More than a job : a passion

More than a profession, the world of the vine is a passion.

It’s part of my DNA.

Quite naturally, I wanted to create my own wine. Indeed, until 2011, the production of grapes during the harvest was carried in a cooperative cellar. With each harvest, the desire to produce my wine was growing, but, the constraints linked to the investment in a particular cellar being important, that made this dream inaccessible. Yet the urge kept growing. In 2009, I followed a qualifying training course to obtain a wine certificate at Université du Vin of Suze la Rousse. Then in 2010, after a lot of research, I was given the opportunity to vinify. This allowed me to vinify my harvest in a particular cellar, without material investment, while benefiting from the know-how of a colleague. And so get my first bottles. In 2011, this project took shape, and here is the domain launched. And for 10 years, the Domaine Eyguestre has produced its own wine in the three colors. Over time, I have benefited from the granting of bottling at the property. I developed production to reach 37,000 bottles in 2020. Since 2019, the Domaine Eyguestre has worked to obtain the High Environmental Value label. It’s been done since this summer of 2020

Recognition: a development engine

When we are deeply invested in a passion, it is really pleasant to receive distinctions.

I was fortunate to be recommended to Decanter in 2015 and to be elected young talent for wine from the Rhône Valley the same year. This event was sponsored by Philippe Faure-Brac, best sommelier in the world in 1992.

Jean-Michel Deluc has chosen my cuvée La Source three times to offer it to the members of his « Petit Ballon » box.

The very famous taster Robert Parker noted this same vintage in 2016 and 2017 with an excellent 93/100.

The Revue du Vin de France, in its different editions, has regularly cited the Domaine Eyguestre and in a last publication with a 14.5 / 20 for white wine.

The rosé wine is also awarded by professionals in the wine world from the magazine La Provence.

My wine is beginning to be known and recognized in different European and world countries.

Having a taste for new means of communication, I have largely developed my social networks Facebook, Instagram and Linkedin.

I also participated in the first virtual world fair by Hopwine. A real success !

I listen to these new media and I want to make it a strong axis of development.
